Upharsin, the sixth full-length from long-running Polish black metal unit BLAZE OF PERDITION, is out today on Metal Blade Records!

A step back from the somewhat curious direction the band charted on 2020’s The Harrowing Of Hearts, BLAZE OF PERDITION’s Upharsin, written entirely in the native language, takes on a dark and pessimistic tone reflected by its appropriately oppressive music. Haunting and melancholic melodies rooted in traditional black metal meet unforgiving blastbeats and solemn marches, while emotional yet feral vocals aim to bring a proper sense of rage and disgust.

Comments the band, “The album reflects on how humans tend to gravitate towards conflict and strife. How religions and politics as well as other aspects of our everyday life are tainted and driven by our lower instincts as we willingly refuse to learn from our own history, as we choose to ignore and neglect the shadow aspect of our psychic reality, which in turn takes us further and further in the everlasting cycle of violence. It’s probably the most realistic concept we’ve taken on, with noticeably less spiritual leanings and a much more grounded approach.”

Stream closing track, “Młot, Miecz I Bat,” at THIS LOCATION.

Upharsin is available on CD and digital formats as well as vinyl in the following color variants:
180g Black (EU)
Dark Charcoal Marbled (US + EU – Ltd. 500)
Crystal Clear w/ Black Dust (EU – Ltd. 300)

“…a bit more orthodox overall, although sprawling guitar solos and complex… arrangements remain. the Poles still have an extraordinary feel for cold black metal melodies and sublime up-tempo blasts.” — Rock Hard Germany

“…a monster of a modern black metal album, filled with gigantic walls of guitars and an immensely oppressive atmosphere, and underpinned by a diabolical performance that is definitely unparalleled at its peak.” – Powermetal.de

“…a much more traditionally oriented black metal album and is therefore much more brutal… singer S. proves once again that he is now one of the most expressive frontmen in black metal.” — Deaf Forever

“Waves of agony roll on in the tidal chords and in dissonant weeping notes, though the vocals remain bestial, like a hybrid of vampire and lycanthrope gone mad with hunger. A song that’s disturbing in the extreme but transfixing in its emotionally shattering intensity.” — No Clean Singing on “W Kwiecie Rozłamu”

BLAZE OF PERDITION not only go full throttle or rely exclusively on raw and powerful vocals, they also give the songs a melodic structure and give the singing a note that even genre newcomers can warm up to. When the record is released, it’s best to bury yourself in your comfortable place with the booklet and translator and explore the black depths of this anniversary work…” — Obliveon.de

“There is something hypnotic about Upharsin. It’s easy to listen to again and again, with a tight running time and no superfluous intros/interludes/etc. BLAZE OF PERDITION have burst back into the blackened underworld with potent murderous passion, and Upharsin is armed and dangerous.” – Wonderbox Metal
